Course Introduction

When your HVAC system runs safely and efficiently, energy and maintenance costs are reduced. In this HVAC intensive training course, participants earn how to maintain the peak efficiencies of HVAC systems which will minimize the downtime spent on maintenance and maximize energy efficiency. This HVAC training course covers the basics and modern techniques of servicing, controlling and troubleshooting air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, while expanding the knowledge of heating and ventilation systems – and the electrical systems that control it all.

In this course, participant will learn how to troubleshoot air conditioning system electrical and mechanical problems, and how to legally recover, recycle, and reclaim refrigerants. Participants will be provided with practical knowledge in maintaining, controlling, servicing and troubleshooting air-conditioning units. At the end of the course, participants will have a good and wide understanding of the functions of HVAC system components and inspect them for service ability.

Objectives

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Apply Safety precautions in HVAC operation and maintenance
  • Explain basic terms and concepts used in the HVAC&R industry including; thermodynamics, temperature, heat, pressure, and latent and sensible heats
  • Discuss the common HVAC units and dimension
  • Explain the different HVAC principles and equipment
  • Demonstrate their ability to define the causes of HVAC problems
  • Identify the parameters presented on a psychometric chart and plot basic heating and cooling
  • Get an overall skill about detecting and repairing refrigerant leaks
  • Determine the different HVAC components and air or water distribution systems
  • Identify the different types of HVAC control system
  • Exhibit a high degree of familiarity with the air-and-water systems Operation & Maintenance
  • Service and maintain HVAC equipment
  • Troubleshoot HVAC failures
  • Identify the various moist air properties and conditioning processes; Controlling Humidity
  • Explain how air conditions are characterized using the psychometric chart; Inside and Outside Conditions
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how the elements of an HVAC system interact with other building systems to provide cool indoor air in an efficient and cost-effective
  • Identify the basic concerns of IAQ
  • Cite the IAQ effects on health and comfort
  • Demonstrate how to control IAQ
  • Explain the application of cooling load calculation procedures
