Course Introduction
The Workshop provides a summary of the EHS issues that may arise during the operational phase of petroleum Industry, along with recommendations for their management.
Recommendations for the management of EHS issues common to most large industrial facilities during the construction and decommissioning phases are provided in the General EHS Guidelines.
Objectives
The participants will be able to:
- Ensure health and safety in order to eliminate or at least minimize the risks of accidents and / or incidents, providing a safe and healthy workplace
- Promote healthier environments to improve health
- Conducting a program of safety and health inspections to find and eliminate unsafe working conditions or practices, to control health hazards, and to comply with local, state, and federal codes.
- Training other personnel in good safety and health practices, including job specific training, as outlined in job hazard analysis reports;
- Providing necessary personal protective equipment, together with the training in its use, to enhance the mechanical and physical safety of the workplace;
- Developing and enforcing safety and health rules, requiring that all affected personnel cooperate with these rules as a condition of employment; and
- Investigating promptly and thoroughly occupational accidents to determine the cause and how to prevent a reoccurrence.
Training Methodology
A grading system will be established by the instructor and implemented uniformly. Grades will be based on demonstrated proficiency in subject matter determined by multiple measurements for evaluation, one of which must be essay exams, skills demonstration or, where appropriate, the symbol system
