Course Introduction

Influence is the ability to mobilize people to do things happen. Influence has to do with exchanges, with something that can be exchanged for things that people value. The person asking for something today could be the same person you will need in the future, whether to implement a project, get resources or create satisfying working relationships with bosses. Whatever the job, people expect colleagues to contribute within reasonable limits, and that is an interaction that leads anyone to influence and be influenced.

Influence is particularly important when cooperation is necessary and there is resistance, or when what is asked is costly for the other or very difficult to obtain.

Achieving cooperation through influence is vital in the world currently. The thing is, nobody gets what they want, even with formal authority, if it does not know how to influence - mainly the people over whom we have no direct authority. That's where the key to success or... failure.
